Kern Schireson: Co-Founder and CEO
Kern has led hundreds of strategic research projects for leading companies in technology, consumer electronics, and healthcare. Before co-founding Schireson Associates, Kern led the product marketing and consulting teams for a major online research provider and served as a senior marketing executive in two venture-funded software startups. He also founded a successful non-profit to provide technical training and job placement. Kern began his career as a hands-on technologist specializing in enterprise network architecture and security and holds a degree in Philosophy from UCLA.
Nathan Hugenberger: Vice President, Strategy & Innovation
Nathan joined Schireson Associates to lead the Quantitative practice after 4 years at Microsoft where he led the team charged with analyzing new business models for some of the company's most successful products. Prior to Microsoft, Nathan worked in technology and consulting, leading large project teams on infrastructure implementations. Nathan has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
Roberto Lartigue: Vice President, Qualitative Research
Prior to Schireson Associates, Roberto was a senior analyst at Gartner Group where he assisted leading IT product and services providers with market and product strategy. More recently, he was a product manager at two technology start-ups where he managed the design and release of innovative research applications. Roberto studied International relations at Georgetown and Finance at the London School of Economics.
Oliver Zimmermann: Vice President, Analytic Services
Prior to Schireson Associates, Ollie spent eight years in client management and technical leadership roles at Monitor Group where he specialized in creating tools and leveraging quantitative research insights to help clients improve marketing decision-making. Ollie has an advanced degree in MIS from Carnegie Mellon and an MBA from the University of Maryland.
Ethan Bauman: Vice President, Strategy & Insights
Prior to Schireson Associates, Ethan led strategy and business development for an online startup backed by Google Ventures. Over the previous ten years, Ethan held senior roles in two additional venture-funded startups, as well as serving as a consultant to a $275 million venture capital fund. Ethan began his career in digital music with MSN, and Real Networks. Ethan holds a BA in Economics from Johns Hopkins, and an MBA from UC Berkeley.
Neil Shah: Vice President, Strategy & Insights
Neil joined Schireson Associates after 12 years at Microsoft where he directed research teams to develop insights that informed product and marketing strategy for multiple consumer & B2B software and services releases. He also held roles in product management and marketing. Prior to Microsoft, Neil worked in competitive intelligence and corporate communications at Fortune 1000 firms. Neil has a BA in Political Science and English Literature from Rutgers University.
Katie Czukas: Director
Prior to Schireson Associates, Katie managed Monitor Group's center of excellence on research, where she led strategic research engagements for consumer products, technology and life science companies worldwide. In addition, Katie has held senior roles in product management, marketing, and sales engineering for a marketing analytics platform. Katie has a Masters in Economics from Northwestern University and an AB in Economics and Applied Mathematics from UC Berkeley.
Char Popp: Director
Prior to Schireson Associates, Char was a product planner at Microsoft, responsible for the long range strategy for the core Microsoft Office products. Over the course of four years in this role, Char was responsible for creating the roadmap for launching Office Live, defining the Google Compete strategy, and creating a roadmap to increase the relevance of Office in key consumer segments. Prior to Microsoft, Char worked as a product marketer at HP and as a strategy consultant for Hitachi. She holds an undergraduate degree in Theater, and an MBA from the University of Washington.
Casey Berman: Director
Long before joining Schireson Associates, Casey honed his rhetorical skills as a public defender in California. He left legal practice to pursue a career in technology and served as VP of Operations for a venture-funded collaboration company in San Francisco. Casey has a BA from UC Berkeley and a JD from Hastings.
Lori Mahl: Director of Field Operations
Before Schireson Associates, Lori learned the research business hands-on during five years as the onsite operations manager for Schlesinger Associates in New York - the largest qualitative facility in the US. In addition to her responsibilities at Schireson Associates, Lori serves on the Board of Directors of the Southeast chapter of the Market Research Association.
Jacob Harris: Engagement Manager
Jacob joined Schireson Associates after leading strategy and new business initiatives for seven years at a non-profit music and digital media company, which he helped build. Jacob began his career in artist management and successfully executed various deals with Sony, Warner Music Group, and Microsoft. Jacob holds a dual BA in Ethnography and Social Psychology from Boston University, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Janine Heater: Senior Consultant
Prior to joining Schireson Associates, Janine worked at MRops, a global research operations firm. At MRops, she managed dozens of B-to-B & Technology projects, focusing particularly on project management, fieldwork management, and reporting. Before joining MRops, Janine spent 5 years as Group Manager at TNS, where she managed a team of analysts and project managers that executed large tracking projects for Microsoft and other clients in the IT sector.
Tyler Tetz: Senior Consultant
Prior to joining Schireson Associates, Tyler was a Project Manager and Senior Analyst at Penn Schoen Berland, a global research-based consultancy. At PSB, Tyler helped drive numerous quantitative and qualitative research projects for clients such as Microsoft across various methodologies including positioning, messaging, MaxDiff, DCM, Conjoint, and pricing. Tyler has a degree in Marketing from Seattle University.
Travis Scoles: Senior Consultant
Prior to joining Schireson Associates, Travis was the Director of Client Services at Kantar Retail, a WPP Company, where he specialized in creating product assortment insights for a variety of consumer goods manufacturers. During his tenure, Travis helped redesign the analytical process utilized by RichMix, Kantar's proprietary software tool, as well as assisting in the design of new software interfaces. Travis has a degree in Economics from Amherst College.
Hans Wolff: Principal Analyst
Hans has more than 20 years of experience in research and statistics. Hans is Schireson's guru for ANOVA, Regression, Discrete Choice, CHAID, TURF, and Conjoint. He has taught statistics classes at the MBA level and has a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago.
Stuart Drucker: Principal Analyst
Stuart has more than 20 years of experience in research and statistics, specializing in segmentation, product/price optimization, Conjoint, and customer satisfaction/loyalty modeling methodologies. He holds a M.S. in Economics from Indiana University.
